Jessica McIvor

Jessica McIvor is a PhD student co-supervised by Dr Scott Soo (University of Southampton) and Dr Erika Hanna (University of Bristol). Her interdisciplinary project focuses on a comparative social history of Ireland and Spain, and explores photography as a vehicle for the construction of narratives of women’s militancy. Her project spans history and modern languages, and her research interests include gender, conflict, memory, transnationalism, photography and visual culture. Jessica co-runs the SWWDTP Gender and Sexuality Cluster, and is currently organising their annual conference. She also co-convenes the Modern Language Research Group at the University of Southampton. When not researching, Jessica is a competitive ballroom and latin dancer.
